Bricked my Steam Deck with Skyrim (It's okay I fixed it)
Sooo about 2 days ago I decided I wanted to play Skyrim on my Steam Deck. Specifically the Special Edition, even though it was categorised by Steam as being “unplayable” (whereas the original version is categorised as “playable”). I got it installed and set up and everything, and started playing it. Got to Bleak Falls Barrow and killed a guy, and then tried to loot him. Full on crashed the game and the Deck. I tried restarting it anddd it was stuck in a boot-loop. I tried to erase user data and that seemed to kind of work, but then I tried restarting the Deck afterwards to make sure what I'd done had been successful...and it started boot-looping again.
I got to the point where I had no choice but to do a factory reset. I had to use the SD card (which had a bunch of games on it) to install a SteamOS recovery image onto it so the Deck could boot from the SD and re-install SteamOS. That thankfully seemed to do the trick.
But uhhh. Yeah. No Skyrim on the Steam Deck. I’ll stick to just playing it on the computer.
I decided to try out No Man's Sky instead, since I had it in my library but hadn't played it yet, and I've been enjoying it so far! I have a simple base on some desert-like planet which has big ass beetles on it, and a basic base I can teleport to on another planet cuz it had uranium there. I think I'll just be making basic little bases here and there so I can teleport directly to resources I find it hard to come across, like sodium for example, or oxygen.
Also I made friends with my new neighbour and we went out to the pub and started socialising and it was great! We chatted for a full 4 hours non-stop, no awkward silences or any struggles to find topics to talk about, it was actually smooth as hell. Turns out talking to my buddy L every other day on discord in VC keeps me from becoming rusty in terms of verbal communication lol.
