Deathlord Grokkar
Death Knight | Unholy + Blood | Horde | Server: Saurfang
Grokkar is one of my most treasured and beloved WoW characters that I have. He is the character I've drawn the most, that I've written the most fanfic about, and a character that I've had for a very long time. When I was a teenager going through some of the worst times in my life, Grokkar's story as a Death Knight who had been shunned by most of society and who had a terrible experience under the control of the Lich King really gave me a great amount of emotional relief, in which I could essentially inflict all my pain onto him as a type of outlet.
I've obviously mellowed out and healed a decent amount since then, and as a result I think Grokkar too is allowed to heal as well. But if ever I need to write or tell a dark and morbid story, Grokkar is always the character I go to in order to tell that story.
I kinda ship him with Khadgar a bit lol. Basically the story goes that Grokkar was the most depressed he'd ever been in his life during Draenor, which is when we get a LOT of Khadgar content in-game, and then Grokkar, who is now in command of a garrison of his very own, is suddenly working very closely with Khadgar a lot. And Khadgar doesn't really mind Grokkar that much and actually does a lot to cheer Grokkar up (not even intentionally, that's just how Khadgar is) and. Well. Grokkar becomes smitten. It takes him literally years to admit to Khadgar that he has fallen for him. But he does eventually.
Below are a bunch of different screenshots I've taken of him in-game! You can also see some artwork I've done of him in the Visual Arts section, and I believe there are two fanfics in the Writing section that have him and Khadgar in them!
Grokkar manspreading (pauldron spreading?). Didn't expect him to take up so much space when I sat next to this person, but he did! Move over, dude.
My friend L playing as his character Grolarr, and me playing as Grokkar. Grokkar was level 70 and his spec at the time was Blood, and Grolarr...was a level 10 warrior. I wanted to get my buddy L some WoW game time but he felt bad about the idea of me just giving him stuff, so I challenged his lvl 10 warrrior to defeat my lvl 70 DK tank, and if he could...I would get him game time. The caveats were that my character Grokkar had to be naked and wasn't allowed to attack so I could give my friend L a fighting chance. It took about an hour for Grolarr to get Grokkar down to 1hp, but he did it! And I got my buddy L WoW time as a reward :)
Grokkar begrugingly riding some of the rides at the Darkmoonfaire, at the behest of one of his friends who told him he needed to "lighten up" and "try to have fun for once."
Needless to say, he didn't have a lot of fun.
During the Darkmoonfaire, one of Grokkar's friends decided to sneak up behind him while he was fishing and stuck a big fish head on him, which he found rather difficult to remove. Then, at some point, Grokkar's pysical body randomly became corporeal, and all that could be seen of him was the fish head he still wore.
A very beautiful photo I got of Grokkar flying on his Highland Drake.
