Hello, I am Aiden Jhadol (also known as Commander Consortia), and this is where I will share my experiences exploring the deep edges of space. Currently posting a log update every Friday at 12 am UGC (Universal Galactic Time). Or just whenever I can find the time.

Elysian Shore | NGC 7822 Sector LC-V C2-2

Entry 015

The NGC 7822 Nebula has got to be one of the most beautiful nebulae that I’ve seen. The blue-white stars that litter the pinkish/red space is an incredible contrast. Not only that, but I also got to encounter my second black hole, in the S171 43 system. It was quite a coincidence that when I looked into the codex to see where the one reported black hole was in Elysian Shore, just so happened to be right in the middle of the nebula that I was already at. I didn’t take any pictures of it because I was a little bit more cautious with getting too close to it, since I’m a long way out from any possible help. I kept my distance. It was still magnificent, though!

Log update on 13-07-3305 at 19:38:08 in S171 45

I have again, come across another black hole. This one was completely unexpected, however. It was in the same nebula I found the previous one, which is quite interesting. I don’t really know how common it is for black holes to be rather close to one another like that, as I don’t really go around purposefully looking for black holes that often. I’m currently writing this in the system that I’ve found it in. Maybe I might find more? Who knows.

Entry 014

It didn’t take me too long to get from the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula to the Cave Nebula, since they’re pretty close to each other, but I haven’t taken as many pictures of the Cave Nebula than I did of the previous one. They’re rather similar looking, though the Cave Nebula is much smaller.

What I’m really interested in visiting next is the NGC 7822 Nebula, as I’ve been able to see it in “sky” as it were, in the form of a line of very bright blue stars. It seems there’s lots of blue-white stars pouring out of its sides, would should make for a beautiful shot.

I’ve also added a few other nebulae to the list of nebulae that I’ll visit on my way back to the Core Systems. But I’ll talk about those when I get to them.

Entry 013

I’ve come across some really cool Purpureum metallic crystals in a Proto-Lagrange cloud in the system I’m currently writing this from. They look sort of like the crystals I saw before in the Spirograph nebula, but those were found in the rings of a gas giant. These weren’t found in anything like that, and they certainly weren’t orbiting around any particular planet. They’re also deceptively big, as I’ve found out. Very interesting discovery!

Log update on 11-07-3305 at 15:34:15 in IC 1396 Sector JW-V D2-5

I seemed to have forgotten to write an update after visiting the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula, but I guess I don’t have to write an update every single time I leave a nebula. I took enough photos of the nebula that I was satisfied with, and I’m now already halfway to the Cave Nebula. After I visit the cave nebula, I will be making the last short trek in this journey, to the NGC 782 Nebula. Then, it will be a very long trek to the Bubble Nebula. I have a suspicion that I will be very bored along the way to the Bubble Nebula, so I’ll try not to go insane. Let’s just hope for the best.

Inner Orion Spur | North America Sector GW-W D1-18

Entry 012

I’ve spent quite a bit of time near the North American and Pelican nebulae, taking many pictures. It’s quite difficult to get good angles since the nebulae are quite big, and some star systems that I thought would have incredible views of the nebula were a bit lacklustre. I did get some good shots, though.

I’ve also planned my long-term route properly this time. I’m essentially going to do one massive “circle”, travelling through the Inner Orion Spur, Elysian Shore and Sanguineous Rim to visit all the nebulae that I want. With this route, I’ll end up back in the Inner Orion Spur through the Sanguineous Rim, travelling around the back end of Barnard’s Loop to go back home. It will take me absolutely ages, but that’s my plan and I’m sticking to it.

Inner Orion Spur | Sadr Region Sector VE-Q B5-5

Entry 011

I took a bit of a break near Veil Nebula East, but today I’ve made it to the Sadr Region, and I’m excited to continue exploring more nebulae today. I don’t have a whole lot to say, honestly. This entire journey has been quite taxing on both my body and my mind, and I will just be glad when I can relax back in the Core Systems, again. This is extremely fun, but I would also like to not come down with space madness.

Log update on 13-05-3305 at 02:20:10 in Sadr Region Sector AL-X B1-3

I had to take a second break as I became ill for some reason, and I was in unbearable amounts of pain. It subsided after I took some pain meds and waited it out, but I think it’s imperative that I keep my health a #1 priority. In space, there are no emergency rooms or doctors, and I knew that this was going to be a risk I had to take into consideration when I traveled into deep space. I am okay now, and I’m going to continue my journey, but this is just a reminder of the many risks and dangers of deep-space exploration.

Inner Orion Spur | Veil East Sector GW-W C1-12

Entry 010

It did not take me very long to get to Veil Nebula East, and I gotta say…this is probably the biggest nebula I’ve been to (with the exception of Barnard’s loop and perhaps a few others). Not only that, but at every single angle it is beautiful. It has an angelic beauty completely different from the other nebulae that I’ve visited. It’s magnificent. I will stay here for a little longer before I go and explore the other nebulae that are close by.

Inner Orion Spur | Veil West Sector GW-W C1-17

Entry 009

It took me a couple of days, but I’ve finally arrived at Veil Nebula West. It’s as beautiful as I’d hoped, and I’ve taken many images. I’m now ready to go to Veil Nebula East, which is going to take me closer to the other nebulae in this vicinity of space.

This is the furthest I’ve been away from inhabited space, and I’ll admit that it makes me a bit nervous. I was nervous before, and had seriously considered going back to Maia (at the very least) to ease my nerves, but at that point it would’ve taken me days to get back, so I decided to continue forward. I’m not as nervous as I was before, but the nervous energy I feel is still there. I don’t want to get too carried away and keep going further and further until I’m ridiculously far away from inhabited space that it’s not even funny anymore, but I don’t want to go back to inhabited space just to make another trek back this direction (which takes days, perhaps even longer) just to visit a couple more nebula. I will go to the Bubble Nebula and then the Heart/Soul Nebulae, and that is as far as I will go. I will have to keep my promise to myself, because I do not want to take any unnecessary risks that I’m not willing to take.

Inner Orion Spur | LBN 632 Sector FW-W D1-101

Entry 008

I have finished visiting LBN 623, the beautiful purple and violet nebula that captivated me from the start. I’m glad I took the time to come over and visit…because it is far more beautiful in person. I intend on going even further now, as I have seen a bunch of beautifully colourful nebula in the distance, and I just cannot stop myself. I have to go over and investigate.

Inner Orion Spur | Maia | Obsidian Orbital

Entry 007

I’m not going to the California Nebula this time. I’ve found this small, purple/violet nebula on my galaxy map, and it’s uniqueness and beauty rivals that of Messier 78, so I have to go there. The California Nebula can wait. I’ve seen enough red, pink and orange nebula for now, I’d like to see some violet for once.

On another note, I saw my first black hole ever today. Very terrifying but also extremely mesmerising. Going up close to it and watching as it distorted the space around me while I passed it by was one of the trippiest, most insane things I’ve seen in my life. There is no way to describe it. The pictures don’t do this thing justice. You have to see it move to understand.

I also apologise for the small update, but I promise you in the next few days there will be more beautiful nebulae to look at.

Inner Orion Spur | HD 37397

Entry 006

I have explored all that I possibly can in this entire area of space. I have taken many beautiful photos, but I think It’s time I made my way back to the Core Systems. Or at the very least, to Obsidian Orbital. I want to go see the black hole that is close by to the Maia system, since I’ve never seen one before. Then, I will figure out what I’m going to do about going towards the California Nebula.

Inner Orion Spur | Running Man Sector RT-Q B5-0

Entry 005

tI have arrived at the Orion and Running Man nebulae, and I’ve found it’s quite hard to take photos of the Orion Nebula when it’s in front of Barnard’s Loop, since they are the same colour. The key is to get a photo of the nebula at an angle where it is not in front of Barnard’s Loop. It is still quite beautiful, though. I’ve noticed a little nebula (or is it just a cloud?) called Messier 78, and its blue colour is quite the contrast to all the red, maroon and pink that’s going on right now. So, I’m going to go there next before I go further into Barnard’s Loop.

Entry 004

I’ve just notice a tiny nebula surrounding just one star (like how the Spirograph Nebula does) on my galaxy map called the NGC 1999 Nebula. I think I’ll go there next after visiting the Spirograph Nebula.

Log update on 01-05-3305 at 22:23:09 in Spirograph Sector CB-W B2-0

I had way too much fun in the Spirograph Nebula, I spent an entire hour there just exploring the system and its planets. It was quite bright and beautiful, I almost didn’t want to leave…I might come back one day, if I ever get the chance.

Inner Orion Spur | Pleiades Sector HW-W C1-2

Entry 003

I have left Obsidian Orbital, and am now currently on my way towards the Witch Head Nebula. I’ve plotted the route towards Rigel, and my ship has no problem finding a route for me. I have a long way to go however, so for now I will just have to entertain myself with some music that I definitely did not illegally download…

Log update on 01-05-3305 at 16:52:35 in Synuefe ZL-T D4-6

I’m currently 24 jumps away from Rigel, and I’m quite excited to get closer to the Witch Head Nebula. This entire area of space is filled with many different Nebula, both big and small. There is also a very big star on my galaxy map that I want to visit: EZ Orionis. Though it looks like the surrounding stars might not be scoop-able, so I’ll have to be careful to not run out of fuel

Log update on 01-05-3305 at 18:45:50 in HIP 23759, docked at Witch Head Science Centre

I am finally at the Witch Head Nebula, and honestly the coolest thing about this place (besides the nebula itself) has to be the science centre I’m at right now. I saw on my ship’s HUD that when I’d selected the centre that I was obviously going to be landing on an asteroid of some sort, but it didn’t realise what was actually going on until I was right next to it. This station is not just inside the rings of a planet, it’s inside in of the asteroids. This has got to be one of the coolest stations I’ve ever been inside of.

On another note, I apparently went straight past a black hole when I was near Maia, and I didn’t realise it until it was far too late. From what I know, discovering black holes will give the biggest payload when selling the data, so I’m pretty bummed that I somehow missed it. Not only that, but I’ve never seen a black hole before! I’ll either have to wait until I go back to the Core Systems before I can see one, or until I come across one in my journey.

Anyway, I’m going to take a well earned rest, and see if I can’t go to the Spirograph Nebula before I make my way to the Orion Nebula.

Entry 002

I have not yet come back to the Core Systems, but I think I will try to send this out to the Galnet (and a few other posts) right now instead of later, because I realise now that I am extremely impatient and just want to continue exploring.

I have finally finished my first exploration journey! It took me a few days, but I have explored all that I set out to do, and I now crave more adventure. Below are my thoughts throughout the entire journey (which will be split up in different posts, since I apparently wrote a lot…) as well as pictures!

Log update on 29-04-3305 at 19:10:28 in Aries Dark Region PY-Q B5-1

I’ve decided to go to the Pleiades Nebula first since it’s the closest, where I will then make my way to Witch Head Nebula, then the Orion Nebula, and finally Barnard’s Loop. After that, I’m not sure if I will turn around and come back, or make the trek over to the California Nebula. I guess I’ll figure it out when I’m at Barnard’s Loop! I’m actually already halfway to the Pleiades. I’m actually closer to the Nebula than I am to Sol, so it should not take me too long to get there.

Log update on 29-04-3305 at 20:26:50 in the Maia system, docked at Obsidian Orbital.

I am currently docked in Obsidian Orbital, right smack dab in the middle of the Pleiades Nebula. I have already taken a bunch of beautiful photographs, but I intend on taking a few more. I’m trying to plot a route to the Witch Head Nebula but it seems I need some sort of unknown permit to get there. How odd. Hopefully I might be able to figure it out at this station. I’m surrounded by people once more, and there’s no use not asking for help.

og update, 20 minutes after previous log: I’ve gotten a tip from the locals that there is a way though to the Witch Head Nebula, I just need to plot a route directly to Rigel, as there’s a sweet spot in there where I can access the Witch Head sectors. This will also let me go directly to the Orion Nebula and Barnard’s Loop as well! Very good news for me. I will head out after I’ve had a rest. This might be the last time in quite a while I will be able to say that I’m truly safe, so I might as well make the most of my time in this station.

Entry 001

My name is Aiden Jhadol.

Although, most know me as Commander Consortia. It is a name I took for myself as an explorer, after my parents ship’s name: Consortia-7.

Like my mother and father before me, I am an explorer-

Err…okay, well…I’m not an explorer yet…but I intend to be. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in the explorer’s environment, or if it’s just in my blood, but the strong desire to go out into deep space has overcome me like nothing else I have felt before. Though I only experienced a bit of exploring when I was young, with my parents, I don’t think my younger self really understood what was going on, or where I was. I wasn’t able to appreciate the beauty of our galaxy the way my parents were experiencing it, and I’ve decided that I want to go out into the cold, unforgiving galaxy, to experience the feelings that my parents did when they were younger. I intend on writing update logs like these during my journey, to share my experiences and thoughts with others that may also desire to go exploring one day (or maybe already are!) but of course, posting them to the Galnet will take some time the further away I am from the Bubble. So…updates may not come at a very quick pace. Don’t worry about me though, I’ll be fine. My parents taught me well in the art of exploring, so I shouldn’t run into much danger in deep space. You might not get updates for weeks or months at a time since deep space is…well…deep. So, don’t be alarmed if you don’t hear from me very often.

I do not know where my first journey will really take me, I might go to one of the nebulae closer to the Bubble, just to start off gently. I don’t want to be making any rash decisions before I’ve even started.

Farewell for now, Commanders! Wish me luck.
