Entry 060 - This nebula made me cry

I am here at my next destination, the rusty-orange nebula I spoke about in my previous entry. This nebula has been outrageously beautiful, and it’s even brought a few tears to my eyes. I don’t know why this one got me in the way that it did…but it really has captivated me. It’s just so beautiful and peaceful out here. I’m a little bit above the galactic plane, so there’s brightness beneath me, and darkness above. It’s certainly a unique experience.

I took a plethora of photos of this nebula, but I couldn’t show all of them even if I tried. So have the very best that I managed to capture.

Entry 059 - The large purple nebula

It has taken me some time to get to this nebula, but I’m finally here! This thing is quite large, but it’s also very beautiful. I’m so impressed with the wide variety of different systems here, I’ve seen a decent amount of water worlds and earth-like worlds in this nebula, along with the many stars that abort insanely close to one another. I took quite a lot of images of this one, but I’m only showing you the best ones. I hope you enjoy! My next stop will be another large nebula, but this one will be more rusty in colour.

Entry 058 - A dark green nebula

I spent quite a few days just chilling around Sagittarius A* before I decided to leave for my new journey towards Colonia. I have made it to my first stop, a small dark green and copper nebula! I took a bit of time to get here, not because it was particularly far, but mostly because I was scanning every single star system’s planets along the way, and stopping at planets that had life so I could land on those planets and get samples of all the different life! I couldn’t do so for every planet otherwise I’d be here for months, but I did get a few nice samples. In my excitement to get these samples, however…I did forget to take pictures. I’m sorry. I will get pictures of other space-biology on my next stop, promise! But if you wanted to know what I saw, it was mostly plants. Some big purple mushrooms, some grass and a really strange plant that looked like coral, almost. It was quite interesting!

Entry 057 - A new route

So, I have been chilling near the black hole for a day or so, and I’ve replenished all my supplies from Explorer’s Anchorage and gotten a better flight suit- more suited for exobiology research than my current one. I have figured out my route for the next leg of the journey, which you can see below.

As you can see, I’m technically taking a route that will be longer both in distance and in the time it takes to get to Colonia, if I had simply decided to head in an absolutely straight line towards it. But, of course, doing such a thing takes forever and is very taxing mentally. This route, however, takes me towards a bunch of beautiful nebulae that I can visit on the way, giving me more motivation to keep going, and constantly giving me a new goal to look forward to, similar to my route from Sol to Sagittarius A*. It took me far longer than I’d like, but I did make it, and I made it solely because I had plotted all these different places to go along my route so I wouldn’t get bored and had plenty of station stops along the way (alongside the occasional surprise stops at nearby fleet carriers that happened to be in the same system that I was in).

I will be spending perhaps a few more days here near the centre of the galaxy before I head out for Colonia. After that…I will reveal what I actually intend on doing there. Though, you may already have something of an idea given what I’ve said in this post as well as the last one. But I won’t spoil it for those that don’t know what I’m talking about. Hehe.

Anyways, uh…enjoy some miscellaneous pictures I took during the journey to Sagittarius A*.

Entry 056 - The centre of our galaxy

I have finally made it to the centre of the galaxy…and by god is this black hole beautiful. I cannot believe how large it is. It is genuinely one of the most entertaining black holes to zip past. I initially thought I would be scared of it, but honestly this thing is great. I am having so much fun watching its immense gravitational forces warp light around it. I feel like I’m on a really crazy high or something. Perhaps the space madness had gotten to me again, but worse. I was terrified of The Great Annihilator(s) and yet this supermassive black hole, the centre of our own galaxy, doesn’t scare me one bit. I guess I’m in too much awe to be scared. It’s incredible.

My journey is obviously, not yet done. I now intend on going straight to Colonia, as I have something of a plan for my future explorations. I intend on going far beyond the reaches of space. And for that…I’m going to need a really, really big ship.

Entry 055 - An Earth like world

This nebula that I am at has to be the best part of my entire trip. It is a little larger than I expected for a planetary nebula, but it is still smaller than other nebulae I’ve visited. It has, however, given me many photography opportunities with all the very close-by stars in which I can go to in order to take pictures of this beautiful nebula from multiple different angles.

As I was doing all this, I came across a system with an Earth-like world! I of course had to get a picture of it in front of the nebula.

All around, this nebula is wonderful. I highly recommend coming here if you’re making your way to the centre of the galaxy like me! It’s certainly a sight for sore eyes.

Entry 054 - The Great Annihilator

I am here, stationed on a fleet carrier, looking out the window of the massive ship, to see a massive black hole. This is The Great Annihilator, a very large black hole, which also has a twin. I uh…was not entirely sure I’d be able to even get to this fleet carrier, given how close it was to the black hole, but I did just barely manage it. I was afraid I was going to get to close and be unable to escape the black hole’s gravity, but I did do it in the end. There’s about 12 fleet carriers just around this one black hole, but there’s plenty more in the system. I only took two photos…but I think you’ll understand me not wanting to get too comfortable here. I’m definitely ready to move on.

Next stop is another beautiful, purple planetary nebula. Then, after that…The centre of our galaxy, Sagittarius A*. I’m getting uncomfortably close to my goal. The Great Annihilator is large, but Sagittarius A* is meant to be …well, just a little bit bigger. Just a tad. Just a smidge. It’s not like it’s the biggest fucking black hole in the whole galaxy, or anything.

Yeah. I’m scared shitless to be honest. Wish me luck.

Entry 053 - A beautiful purple nebula

I’ve speedily made my way towards the next destination, a wonderful little nebula with some gorgeous purple colours. It’s really not quite often you see such beautiful colours in such a nebula. It’s really quite striking. There was, of course, a neutron star in the middle of the entire thing. I’m surprisingly less afraid of black holes than I am of neutron stars. Their cones are beautiful but it just freaks me out a bit. I did take a beautiful picture of it from my cockpit, though.

My next stop? The Great Annihilator of course! A black hole which will hopefully give me a taste for what Sagittarius A* is going to be like. I am…uh…not really looking forward to this. I can deal with regular sized black holes just fine. But big ones? I don’t know how well I’m going to manage to be honest. And it’s only 22 jumps away so I really do not have much time to prepare myself for this monstrosity. Uh. Yeah. Wish me luck!!!

Entry 052 - Fleet carrier near black hole

I am parked here, on a fleet carrier that’s orbiting around a black hole, surprised that I even managed to make it here at all. When I’d noticed that there was a fleet carrier orbiting this black hole, I was certain it was too close to the black hole for comfort, and that landing would be impossible. But…I decided to give it a try, and simply realised that the carrier was behind the black hole, and landing on it was no issue. I have obviously arrived at my next destination: surprise, surprise…another planetary nebula! Who would’ve thought? Haha, just kidding. I thought. I thought really hard, actually.

Anyways, I took a few more pictures this time! My next destination is…yeah. Another planetary nebula. I think? Yeah, it is. But this one is supposed to be purple! I love purple nebulae the most. You don’t see them much. So I think this will be lovely.

Entry 051 - A little black hole

I am at the next nebula I wanted to visit on my way to the centre of the galaxy. I decided to be brave, today, and got close enough to the black hole in the centre of this nebula and managed to take a very beautiful photo of it. I also took other, more unique photos of the nebula from outside of it, because I felt I wasn’t getting unique enough shots. I hope to take more unique and interesting shots as I continue my journey.

Entry 050 - Scared to get too close

I have made it to my next destination! This is another planetary nebula, which has a black hole at the centre! It’s been a long while since I’ve buggered around near a black hole, so I kept my distance. I wanted to get a picture but honestly I chickened out, which I’m sure most people would understand. I will be off to my next stop. It’s another planetary nebula, similar to the other ones I’ve shown. I’m getting quite close to the centre now!

Hope you enjoy the images! I’ve also decided to start adding titles to my entries to make things a little more interesting. Wish I’d done it sooner, to be honest. But what better entry to do it on other than the 50th one?

Norma Arm | I forgot to write down the system I was in because I’m stupid

Entry 049

So, I was minding my own business, jumping from system to system in order to get to my next destination which was well over 4000 light years away…when I saw this strange dark blue blob in front of me. And I thought to myself, “What the fuck is that?”

I then opened up my galaxy map to try and see what was ahead of me, and I found another small little planetary nebula, almost 10 minutes after having left the previous one! So, here are some images from the surprise nebula I saw.

Entry 048

I have sped my way towards the next destination, which was another planetary nebula that i wanted to go to. Thankfully, there is indeed a fleet carrier here, and this one was not parked right up the arse of a neutron star as well, which certainly makes things significantly less dangerous. I got to sell all of my exploration data and repair the bits of wear and tear on my ship, which was a relief.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. I mean, I say that to all the nebulae, but I am truly blessed to be alive and live in a galaxy filled with such wonderous things. And that I have the ability to explore it all. I hope you all enjoy the images as much as I do!

Entry 047

I apologise deeply for the extreme and severe delay in my log updates, as it has been..a few years, since I last made one of these. Getting into the centre of the galaxy is taxing on the mind and body. First thing that happened: I ran out of food on my ship due to a miscalculation on my part, and I was a sitting duck, so I had to call in some help from a friend, who came to rescue me. I was also going through a lot, mentally, separate from the food situation, but the food situation kind of made it worse. I knew that space madness and complete isolation in deep space throughout the journey was going to be something that ate away at me, I just didn’t know it could get this bad. The whole situation was a goddamn mess, so I decided to call off the journey for a while til I could get a grip on reality again.

I’ve spent much of my time winding down at various fleet carriers in the middle of deep space, as I’ve not wanted to go back to the bubble. I still want to complete my mission of going to the center of the galaxy, I just needed some time to think. I’ve been trying not to hitch any rides to further out places on those carriers, though. I do still want my journey to the center of the galaxy to be of my own doing, of course.

As I now currently have more motivation and spirit, and I have a much better plan for my food situations and can also plan my route based on the fleet carriers between me and Sagittarius A*, I think I’m in a lot better position than I was before. I’ve also allowed myself some proper time off, so I feel mentally and physically well enough to continue my journey. I’m genuinely almost half-way, now! It’s just…going to take some time.

Currently, as I type this, I’m in a planetary nebula which has a gorgeous neutron star in the centre of it, and also…a fleet carrier, who seems to be hanging just a tad bit too close to the neutron star. So close that I’m honestly a bit concerned. I will definitely not be landing on that carrier.

Anyways, I hope you like the pictures I’ve attached! Sorry there’s not many. There truly weren’t many planets in the nebula to look at. Just the nebula itself and the neutron star. My next stop will be another planetary nebula, and then after that, a very quick trip to the nearest fleet carrier in the Norma Arm. Hopefully one that hasn’t parked it’s rear end right in the face of a neutron star, this time!

Entry 046

I am in possibly the strangest system I’ve ever encountered before. This system has a few back holes, which is not particular strange. However, these two black holes are very close to each other, one of them orbiting the other in close proximity. Another strange thing is the two neutron stars that are also in the same system, and both of these neutron stars….have rings! I wasn’t even away that neutron stars could have rings, but for two neutron stars in the same system to both have rings…I can only imagine it is a one in a billion chance. Below is an image of one of these neutron stars.
