Entry 24

NOTE FROM THE FUTURE: I have more recently found out that feeding honey is not good for birds, and my mum has since stopped doing so, but some of these older journal entries from 2022 will mention my mum putting out honey for the birds to eat, so please keep in mind that this is no longer something that my mum does.
I woke up quite early this morning to the sounds of what I believe to be a pair of Pied Currawongs. I’ve heard them around, but not actually seen them. My mum has though, and she said that recently she saw one of them hogging all of the honey she left out for the honeyeaters. I had no idea that Currawongs ate honey. They usually eat insects, small lizards and berries, but I guess their diet is varied enough that they’ll eat anything, honey included. I do wish to actually see them for once instead of just hearing them. I’ve also noticed another bird, the Pied Butcherbird, hanging around a lot more over the past week. I think the Butcherbirds are quite cute. Their little hopping they do is quite adorable. They’re like smaller, cuter Magpies. I’ve only seen one, though- never a pair. I wonder if maybe it doesn’t have a mate yet? Or maybe they don’t take permanent mates like Magpies do. I’m not sure.
